    Release: Immediate

MAN FALSELY ACCUSED OF POSSESSING CHILD PORN VINDICATED BY PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR

On Wednesday 17 August 2016 Chad Robinson was vindicated after he was found not guilty of all charges in the Pinetown Magistrates Court.

Mr Robinson’s nightmare began when he was arrested by SAPS more than a year ago after his ex-wife accused him of manufacturing and possessing child porn. He was charged with multiple counts of both manufacturing and possessing child porn.

Mr Robinson’s ex-wife told police that she found the child porn images on a laptop she shared with him after she was removing her images and documents before returning the laptop to her ex-husband.

In her statement, she admits showing the images to at least two other people including her current boyfriend who happens to be employed in the computer industry.

On February 19, 2015, Mr Robinson retained the services of Durban private investigator and computer forensic examiner Rick Crouch to assist him and his attorney in preparing for trial.

Crouch spent hours examining the digital forensic data related to the case and submitted a report that was used in trial by the defence. Crouch’s report proved without a doubt that the charges were false and that data had been manipulated.

“Without Rick Crouch, none of this would have been possible. I do not know of anyone else who could have compiled a report like that, what he found was astounding and has in all likelihood changed our lives” said Chad Robinson.

“I have worked many such cases and if you are not lucky enough to have a good investigator on your side you can find yourself in a world of hurt, people get vindictive when they are going through a divorce. After examining the evidence it was obvious to me that Mr Robinson was not guilty, the evidence does not lie. In this case, the digital evidence did not support the ex-wife’s account of what had happened, and the court also saw it that way. Hopefully, people understand that he had his day in court and it has been determined by the court that he is not guilty of what he was charged with.

I am of the opinion that if criminal defence attorneys are not using the services of a criminal defence investigator they are doing their clients a disservice, there is a quote attributed to Legendary attorney Melvin Belli that I always refer to, he once said, ‘If your investigator is good enough, most any lawyer will do.’ said private investigator Rick Crouch
